Job Description

As someone that has led clinical teams, you know full well the struggle of balancing what should be done for your patients against the limitations of what will be reimbursed. You’ve created programs that push the boundaries of what is permitted by fee for service healthcare and have spent more time than you care to admit thinking through what could be if given the chance to redesign care from scratch with only the patient’s wellbeing in mind.

This role presents an opportunity to do just that. As CMO, you will help lead the design and implementation of a new model of care, uninhibited by existing reimbursement policy, hierarchy, or tradition. Importantly, you will have the resources you need to build the team that will make it reality. You will be a member of a small team of executives reporting directly to the CEO supported by an existing team of fast-paced, data-driven healthcare veterans, all working together to create the healthcare system for people with T1D that should exist.

You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Care team. This team, as currently envisioned and subject to your input, will provide exceptional diabetes care, including medical counseling, the prescription and application of appropriate therapy, peer coaching, behavioral health counseling, insurance navigation, and nutritional counseling. It is envisioned that this team will be composed of appropriately credentialed specialists; including MDs/DOs, APRNs, and Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (previously known as Certified Diabetes Educators) led by a small team of experienced managers. This team will be supported by a staff of procurement, HR, legal, finance and accounting professionals and an Analytics & Operations team that will ensure that your team has the data they need to make informed decisions and the support they need to execute.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate as a key member of the senior leadership team in setting and executing the Blue Circle Health strategy.
  • Oversee the team responsible for the end-to-end patient care journey, ensuring that all services are delivered in a coordinated, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Hire and manage the team leaders responsible for delivering each aspect of care.
  • Set quantifiable and achievable objectives for each service line and manage teams toward those objectives and review performance against these objectives.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of the care delivery team in each state where Blue Circle Health is operating.
  • Work with the Leadership Team to address the organization’s care-related challenges.
  • Participate in establishing the care services-related budget and manage care delivery within that budget.
  • Allocate resources among the care-related service lines according to need and impact.
  • Use quantifiable evidence of impact to advocate for the improvement or scaling of services.

Requirements

Required Credentials, Experiences and Capabilities:

  • An MD/DO or advanced medical degree and experience delivering diabetes care.
  • 10+ years of experience leading care delivery organizations.
  • An approach to care delivery that embraces innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Design and oversight of quality improvement efforts.
  • Leadership-level experience using data analytics, population health metrics, and quality improvement processes.
  • Experience building and running a multidisciplinary, multifaceted care delivery program with several sub-departments each delivering separate but related services.
  • Experience overseeing a remote care delivery model.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement holistic, patient-centered care models.
  • A strong communicator that can earn the respect of people with different backgrounds and expertise.
  • Experience working with other executives responsible for information systems, finance, analytics, and administration.
  • Fluency with managing by the numbers and within a fixed budget and allocating resources accordingly.
  • Experience hiring and growing a team of multidisciplinary professionals.

  • Advanced training in data science, informatics, or quality improvement.
  • Managing care delivery for populations in underserved areas.
  • Startup / early-stage experience.
  • Creating innovative solutions to complex challenges.
