Job Description

We are looking for an innovative clinical leader to co-develop and implement clinical strategy and operations. We seek an operations leader who is dissatisfied with the status quo, wants to build a new way of delivering mental healthcare to children and families, and is committed to measurement-based care where quality assessment, outcomes, and family and provider satisfaction are paramount. This leader will be experienced and/or interested in leading complex clinical mental health operations for children and families and managing telepsychiatry service delivery. This is a cross-functional role which will serve as the connective tissue between our clinicians and the business, and reports to the COO.

Responsibilities

    • Run Clinical Operations: Develop top-quality operations via clinical protocols based on measurement and evidence-based best practices
    • Own Compliance: Ensure our clinicians are completing all necessary and clinically-relevant steps at every stage of our clinical pathways, leveraging the correct CPT codes, and completing compliant notes in a timely manner.
    • Optimize Scheduling: Develop and operationalize ways to connect our clinicians with families in need in the most efficient manner possible, taking into account clinical case loads, acuity of care, clinician specialities, and timezone variations. Address the challenges of scheduling triage, assessment, and on-going care for different clinical pathways.
    • Drive Billing: Ensure billing and superbills are accurate, completed in a timely manner, and available to families as soon as possible. Guarantee prompt responses to families’ questions and concerns about billing, superbills, and insurance coverage.
    • Maximize Clinician Productivity: Ensure our clinicians are able to serve families as frequently as possible in a sustainable manner, managing the oversight of all aspects of case load including acuity, specialization etc.
    • Develop Clinician Recruitment Strategy: Work closely with recruiters to ensure we have a strong pipeline to meet demand as we expand.
    • Co-lead Clinical Team with other clinical directors: You are responsible for the success of our clinical care, working collaboratively with clinical leadership to succeed in our mission to drive the professional growth, clinical success, and creation of a positive work environment for all members of the clinical team
    • Manage the Clinical Team: Ensure members of your team are engaged, productive, focused, and incentivized to perform
    • Build Culture: Develop a clinical culture that empowers parents, nurtures children, and supports clinicians to creatively provide top quality mental health care
    • Develop Leaders: Empower clinicians to become leaders who will effectively manage the growing clinical organization. Promote a ‘can do’ attitude and growth mindset
    • Prioritize Quality and Family Satisfaction: Own clinical quality metrics, guidelines for standards of care, and approval of relationships with outside vendors
    • Translate Clinical Concepts: Serve as a clinical representative within Little Otter leadership, promoting close communication across clinical and non-clinical teams at both strategic and tactical levels

About You

    • Strong organizational, management, matrixed leadership, and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for leading and developing teams
    • Experience in a competitive, metrics-driven, fast-paced business environment with high standards of excellence (e.g. management consulting, investment banking, high level clinical administration)
    • Ability to perform under minimal supervision with accountability for specific objectives, and work in a rapidly changing, ambiguous start-up environment
    • Experience as a clinical operations leader (e.g., Medical Director, Head of Clinical Operations) for at least 3+ years with >30 providers
    • Experience implementing measurement-based and evidence-based pediatric mental healthcare, and taking a similar approach to productivity 
    • Passion for and experience in driving innovation in medical services
    • Experience with or interest in collaborating with engineering, product, legal teams and data experts to create a novel digital health platform

Bonus skills/experience

    • At least 2 years of Telehealth experience
    • Child Psychiatrist or Developmental Pediatrician (MD or DO from accredited medical school and residency) or Clinical Pediatric Psychologist (PhD from accredited program and internships)
    • For MD/DO board certification strongly preferred in psychiatry or developmental pediatrics
    • 3+ years of primary care experience; specialty in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Medicine-Pediatrics with demonstrated interest in functional, holistic or lifestyle-based care
    • Professionally bilingual in Spanish and English
