Job Description

Alpha Medical is seeking an Associate Medical Director with a passion for patient advocacy and improving the way people access healthcare today. The Associate Medical Director will work collaboratively under the supervision of the Medical Director and have a strong focus on the operations for our clinical and provider Team. 
As an Associate Medical Director, you will be part of a small but mighty provider and clinical team that’s focused on identifying departmental needs and implementing scalable processes. You will get experience working with stakeholders from various departments, aligning clinical operational roadmaps to Alpha’s strategic growth, assisting with training and development programs, reviewing and suggesting policy updates, performance and provider reviews, and other tasks as assigned.

Key areas of ownership that you will drive forward for the organization personally, and collaborating cross-functionally

    • Further Alpha's mission of empowering women to take control of their healthcare.
    • Maintain and share qualitative and quantitative metrics to the Medical Director and CMO and advanced practice providers (APPs)
    • Work with the Medical Director to manage the peer-review process of APPs
    • Act as a supervising/collaborating physician to our APPs, as needed
    • Participate in recruitment and onboarding of our APPs
    • Directly providing great care to Alpha Medical patients by undertaking asynchronous consultations (up to 80% of your time)
    • Use our secure technology platform for all patient interactions
    • Assist the Medical Director and CMO with medical condition launches, review protocols for existing medical conditions

    • Onboarding: Set up weekly 1:1s with Dr.J, NP Administrators, and Associate Medical Directors
    • Team Leadership: Lead meetings with your team and assist in all other clinical meetings with the Medical Director
    • Onboarding: Signed off patient training completed (approx 2 week)
    • Onboarding: Have a clear understanding of our platform CDB & PDB and how each team (Providers, RNs, Pharmacy, & Support) uses them
    • Onboarding: A clear understanding of the Alpha provider site is used, how to update, and who is responsible for keeping updated. 
    • Onboarding: Full understanding of all of our medical conditions and how they are treated in our platform. 
    • Administration: Have a clear understanding of the provider site and how to keep updated.
    • Administration: Have submitted license applications for 10 highest need states


    • Providing Care: Confident working with patients (80% of your time) 
    • Providing Care: Be confident to provide team leadership and supervision as the only physician on rotating weekends and as needed during the week
    • Administration: Have submitted license applications for 25 highest need states
    • Administration: Be licensed to treat patients in 5 states
    • Administration: Work with your reports to find ways to improve the provider site or the resources and work with NP administrators to execute this
    • Team Leadership: Clear on how to work in staging as a patient and troubleshoot issues in order to help solve tasks for the care team. 
    • Team Leadership: Comfortable helping the team review and resolve complex medical cases
    • Team Leadership: Confidence in helping to solve bugs or technical issues the Clinical team raises or to escalate to product team when needed.
    • Team Leadership: Play a leading role in all Clinical Team Meetings
    • Cross-Functional Leadership: Assist Medical Director in recruiting efforts for provider roles
    • Team Leadership: Be providing support and feedback to all direct reports documented weekly in 15Five
    • Cross-Functional Leadership: Be a key voice in all patient-facing hiring process


    • Providing Care: Confident working with patients (80% of your time) 
    • Administration: Have submitted license applications for all states
    • Administration: Be licensed to treat patients in 15 states
    • Operational leadership: Work with Medical Director and Medical Staff Coordinators to Drive improvement in all Credentialing, Licensing, Scheduling, and Onboarding processes
    • Cross-Functional Leadership: Work with the Medical Director and recruiting team providing feedback in order to drive process improvements for all recruiting efforts in patient-facing roles
    • Cross-Functional Leadership: Be a patient advocate. Provide feedback and ideas on process improvement or ways we can provide a better level of patient experience
    • Operational leadership: Be a fully functioning team member providing excellent patient care always adhering to clinical guidelines and telemedicine regulations. 
    • Cross-Functional Leadership: Have a clear understanding that there will be future launches that the team will have to learn and collaborate in the implementation of new medical conditions.
