One company offering such roles is Sketchy, a learning platform for medical students. Sketchy’s process is based on the memory palace technique which connects bits of information to an imaginary environment created in your mind. Sketchy helps students remember information with the help of clever animated videos which build these memory palaces for various medical topics. Sketchy was most recently seeking physicians with expertise in Neurology, Surgery, and OB/GYN to write multiple choice assessment items and review and revise existing content.

Similarly, famed education company Kaplan has remote USMLE Med Instructor positions for a variety of areas including Hematology, Neurology, and Pathology. They are looking for physicians with at least 5 years of experience in teaching and the ability of engage and motivate students.

Utilization Management & CDI

Everyone knows that healthcare costs are ballooning out of control and the results mean patients can’t afford to access the care they need. If you’d like to play a part in bringing these costs down there are many remote roles falling under the umbrella of utilization management, a fixture of non-clinical work. Centene, a managed care company based in Missouri with 25 million members, was recently hiring a remote Medical Director to lead their utilization management activities.

Utilization management company Cohere Health has had openings for Medical Directors of Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, and Cardiology to provide medical reviews and determine medical appropriateness of services. These roles require at least five years of clinical experience post residency with at least a year of UM experience being desirable.

Applicants must be a physician and CPC or CRC with at least five years of experience in Medicare Advantage. Medical Advisor

Some of the most exciting and innovative startups can be found in the telemedicine field. Companies like Thirty Madison, which is behind the Keeps men’s hair loss brand, is rapidly expanding their services to allergy care, dermatology, and GI conditions. They are hiring Medical Advisors in these specialties in remote, part-time roles to stay on top of the latest clinical findings, review content, and respond to press inquiries, among other responsibilities. These are great opportunities for getting involved with an exciting startup that has just raised $140m in capital in a non-clinical remote role.

Pharmaceutical Drug Development

Another traditional path for non-clinical careers is pharmaceutical drug development.
